Melbourne surgeon Jill Tomlinson, a founding member of Destroy the Joint, says our society continues to fear random attacks more than the dangers closer to home.
"I think there certainly is an expectation by all women that there is a danger to us when we are outside our houses, and when we walk in and shut the door we are safe," Tomlinson says.'
