Family Violence Support

"People are dying: it's time for a new approach to stop domestic violence", Fiona Martin, The Age, January 3, 2020

3 January 2020

Perpetrator accountability should be front and centre of any approach to stopping domestic and family violence. This opinion piece from The Age states that we must look at the mental health and other "coping characteristics" of the perpetrator. Current prevention programs focus primarily on cultural change centred around gender inequality and respectful relationships, however this change will take time. Meanwhile, rates of domestic and family violence remain high. Does the answer to this complex issue lie in a single approach, or are a number of approaches required?  Read the piece here.
